Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 11: Ishroop Narang Finishes Fifth in Women's -78kg Judo
India's Day 11 campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 saw Ishroop Narang finish fifth in the Women's -78kg judo competition after making a strong run through the elimination rounds.
India was also represented in cycling track, while Avtar Singh and Yash Ghangas exited the men's judo competitions in the Round of 16.
Ishroop Narang misses judo bronze
Ishroop Narang produced India's best result of the day in the Women's -78kg category.
She began her campaign with a victory over Nicole Wood of Scotland in the Round of 16, winning by decision.
Narang then faced Emma Reid of England in the quarter-final, where she was defeated by ippon.
The defeat sent her into the repechage, where Narang bounced back with a 10s1-2s1 victory over Georgika Wesly Djengue Moune of Cameroon to earn a place in the bronze-medal contest.
In the bronze-medal bout, Narang faced Coralie Godbout of Canada but lost 0s2-1s1, finishing fifth overall.
Despite missing the podium, Narang's run through the repechage kept her in medal contention until the final contest.
Avtar Singh and Yash Ghangas exit
India's two other men's judo representatives competing in the elimination rounds were unable to progress.
Avtar Singh lost to Aristos Michael of Cyprus in the Men's -100kg Round of 16 by ippon.
In the Men's +100kg category, Yash Ghangas was defeated by Joshua Whitehouse of Wales by decision.
Both Indians therefore exited their respective competitions in the Round of 16.
Three Indians compete in men's sprint qualifying
India had three cyclists in the Men's Sprint Qualifying at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
Rojit Singh Yanglem was India's fastest finisher, recording 10.297s to place 22nd.
Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam clocked 10.331s for 24th, while David Beckham Elkatohchoongo finished 25th in 10.488s.
Two Indians record DNFs in 10km Scratch Race qualifying
India's Harshveer Singh Sekhon and Dinesh Kumar competed in the Men's 10km Scratch Race qualifying round.
Both riders were listed as DNF, ending their participation in the qualifying round.
