India delivered another strong day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, with Mirabai Chanu winning gold in weightlifting, M Raja and Rishikanta Singh Chanambam adding silver medals, and victories in boxing alongside a relay final finish in swimming.

Mirabai Chanu wins gold in women’s 48kg final

Mirabai Chanu produced one of the biggest performances of the day in the Women’s 48kg Final, lifting a total of 190kg to win gold. Her lift included 85kg in snatch and 105kg in clean & jerk, and the result further strengthened India’s medal count in Glasgow. She makes a Hat-trick of Gold at the Commonwealth Games

Rishikanta Singh Chanambam claims silver in men’s 60kg final

India’s medal run continued with Rishikanta Singh Chanambam, who secured silver in the Men’s 60kg Final with a total of 264kg. He registered 121kg in snatch and 143kg in clean & jerk, and also delivered a Games Record in snatch.

M Raja adds another silver in men’s 65kg final

Later in the day, M Raja won silver in the Men’s 65kg Final with a total of 286kg. His series featured 126kg in snatch and 160kg in clean & jerk, giving India another podium finish in weightlifting.

Boxing: Preeti and Jadumani Singh win

India also picked up two solid wins in boxing.

Preeti defeated Deborah Mtenjema of Malawi by RSC in the Women’s 54kg Round of 16. Jadumani Singh followed that with a 5-0 points win over Sumama Rehman of Pakistan in the Men’s Bantamweight 55kg Round of 16.

Swimming: relay team reaches the final

In swimming, India’s Men’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay finished 6th in the heats with 7:39.48 and qualified for the final. The team then went on to finish 6th in the final with 7:29.84.

Gymnastics and bowls action

India’s men’s artistic gymnastics team had a final appearance through Tapan Mohanty, who finished 15th in the Men’s All-Around Final with 70.100.

In bowls, India faced mixed results:

  • The women’s pairs lost to Namibia on tie-break after a 1-1 finish
  • Putul Sonowal lost 0.5-1.5 to Shaun James Parnis of Malta
  • India’s women’s pairs later lost to England on tie-break after another 1-1 result
