Sindhu Lets Lead Slip in Crucial Opener

PV Sindhu came closest to turning the tie in India’s favour but squandered a strong position against Wang Zhiyi in the opening singles.

After losing the first game, Sindhu fought back to force a decider and looked in complete control at 18-12. However, the world No. 2 Chinese mounted a remarkable comeback to win 16-21, 21-19, 19-21, handing China a 1-0 lead.

The missed opportunity proved decisive in the context of the tie.

Doubles Gap Exposed

India’s struggles in doubles continued as Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra were outclassed by world No. 1 pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, going down 11-21, 8-21.

The loss put India under immediate pressure with China tightening their grip on the tie.

Isharani Fights, Chen Yufei Too Strong

Tasked with keeping India alive, Isharani Baruah showed promise against Chen Yufei but failed to convert key points.

After narrowly losing the opening game 20-22, she faded in the second to go down 13-21, as China took an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Narrow Loss in Second Doubles

Treesa Jolly and Kavipriya Selvam pushed Luo Xu Min and Zhang Shu Xian in a competitive three-game match but fell short 10-21, 21-12, 19-21.

Despite moments of resistance, India were unable to shift momentum.

Devika’s Bright Start Fades

In the final singles, Devika Sihag started strongly but could not sustain her level, losing 21-19, 17-21, 10-21 to Xu Wen Jing, completing a 0-5 defeat for India.
